Playing board games was a gigantic part of my childhood. Not a day went by that I didn’t play at least one. So naturally, when I got married and had my own kids, I carried on the tradition, and I have really warm memories surrounding it.
Board games are perfect for rainy days, snowy days and “any” days, and the quality family time spent away from cell phones, TV’s, video games and computers is so important.
Toys “R”Us, Hasbro and Duracell are teaming up to celebrate Family Game Night. Game night is about having fun, but it also promotes essential skills, helps build self-confidence and creates treasured memories.
I can easily spend an hour at a time in Toys “R”Us shopping for board games, partly because there are so many to choose from, and partly because I stink at making decisions.
Sometimes it’s best to just go with a classic, Hasbro’s Operation, for instance. It’s a classic dexterity game and so much fun!
I have a pretty steady hand so I usually do pretty well, and I totally won the game this last weekend on game night.
We played for a long time, so I’m thankful that I had a good stash of Duracell batteries on hand. There’s nothing more annoying than not having the batteries you need to play your favorite summer games.
Did you know that Duracell Quantum batteries:
— Have Hi-Density Core™ Technology for unbeatable long-lasting power
— Only battery with PowerCheck™. Instantly check your power level at any time
— Have Duralock Power Preserve™ Technology. Guaranteed for 10 years in storage
Family Game Night Tips
Take turns choosing family game night games, so everyone has a chance to play their favorites.
Have simple, easy-to-eat snacks on hand. My family loves to munch on popcorn, pretzels and trail mix while we play.
Bring a few games when you travel. Hotel rooms can be boring, so having a game on hand is a great idea.
Remember to have fun. You’re creating memories together!
One lucky reader will win a prize pack including a $50 gift card for Toys “R” Us and Duracell Quantum batteries.
